Colombo (News 1st) - At a conference on the 20th amendment to the constitution in Kurunegala, UNP Parliamentarian Dr Jayampathy Wickramaratne stated that the main reason for the delay in taking the constitutional process forward is that there is no agreement between the two main political parties to completely abolish the Executive Presidency. Professor Sarath Wijesuriya the convener of the 'National Movement for a Just Society' speaking on the matter stated that the Parliament is vested with the responsibility in creating the constitution, however, only a few of the MPs are capable of doing so. Professor Wijesuirya stressed that most Parliamentarians have cases or allegations of Financial Fraud and abuse of Public Property levelled against them and some are guilty of racketeering.
