Colombo (news 1st) - Convener of the Voice Against Corruption, Wasantha Samarasinghe commenting on the Sri Lanka - Singapore Free Trade Agreement said that there is only one way to cancel the FTA and that is to present it to Parliament and defeat it in a debate. Elaborating on the matter he states that after the FTA is defeated in Parliament, Singapore should be given notice that the FTA has become a national issue and that we cannot proceed with it. Wasantha Samarasinghe states the FTA was signed on 23rd January. He further notes that the laws pertaining to the agreement were established on March 9th. Samarasinghe questions as to how the Attorney General granted approval to sign an agreement based on a non-existant law in the country?   How was the FTA approved with no legislature?
