Colombo (News1st) - A Sri Lankan Parliamentary delegation is currently in India based on an invitation extend by the Indian Government. At the same time, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is also in India, based on an invitation extended by BJP leader Dr. Subramaniam Swami. Later this year, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is due to travel to India after returning from Vietnam. The Parliamentary delegation currently in India consists of;
  • Speaker Karu Jayasuriya

  • Opposition Leader R Sampanthan- TNA
  • Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva - UPFA

  • Minister Mano Ganesan - Democratic People's Party
  • Leader of the Muslim Congress Min. Rauf Hakeem

The group called on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi this morning (September 10), before meeting the Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj. The Indian Affair

There are many examples that depict India's involvement in matters pertaining to economics, politics, and foreign affairs of Sri Lanka. Political analysts continue to point out that Geo-Political superpowers like India are targeting strategically important locations of Sri Lanka, such as the ;
  • Kerawalapitiya Power Plant
  • Mattala Airport
  • East Terminal of the Colombo Port
  • Oil tanks in Trincomalee
It is clear that India is trying to grab power in Sri Lanka in a similar manner to what happened in Nepal. In 1987, India took measures to send in the peacekeeping force under the premiership of Rajiv Gandhi. This created political turmoil in the country. It was the strong decision of President Ranasinghe Premadasa that drove the IPKF away in 1980. Is the government aware of the Indian involvement in the country, and the real nature of this involvement?
