COLOMBO (News 1st) – The Department of Inland Revenue says that tax revenue has increased by 139% with the enforcement of the new Inland Revenue Act.
It’s Commissioner General Ivan Dissanayake said that tax revenue has shown an increase of Rs. 9 billion during the period under consideration (Jan – Aug), in comparison with figures from 2017. Dissanayake noted that the Government has collected nearly Rs. 30 billion until August this year.
The Inland Revenue Commissioner also said that 96,900 new tax files have been opened with the enforcement of the new Inland Revenue Act.
