Customs arrest 3 foreigners with stock of gems

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The customs officials attached to the BIA arrested three foreigners including two women that had attempted to smuggle a stock of gems illegally into the country. Deputy Director of Customs, Vipula Minuwanpitiya stated that the value of the seized gems are Rs. 4,913,600 and they weigh 6.4 kg Minuwanpitiya also added that the suspects had attempted to enter the country last evening from China. The suspects are aged 27, 29 and 37 years.
