COLOMBO (News 1st) – Investigation Director of the Central Environmental Authority, N. S. Gamage states that the legal action will be taken against 300 individuals that made use of and sold illegal polythene bags.

According to Gamage, over 500 raids have been carried out over the past 12 months in order to uncover the use of illegal polyethene adding that raids will continue to be conducted with the assistance of the Police.

Although the production, sale, distribution and usage of high-density polythene was banned with effect from September 1st last year the law was enforced against such actions from the 01st of January this year.
