President Sirisena pays last respects to Chandra Rajapaksa

COLOMBO (News 1st) - President Maithripala Sirisena arrived at Medamulana and paid his last respects to the late Chandra Rajapaksa, brother of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, today (August 25). Our correspondent in the area said the President had expressed his condolences to the former President and his family members. Several political figures including Minister of Higher Education Wijedasa Rajapaksa and Western Province Chief Minister Isura Devapriya had also arrived this morning to pay their respects. 70-year-old Chandra Rajapaksa was the younger brother of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Funeral proceedings are to held at the family burial grounds today (August 25).
