Reuters - Sustainable and handloom fashion was on display on the second day of the glamorous Lakme Fashion Week in India's showbiz capital Mumbai on Thursday (August 24). Indian designer Sunita Shanker's collection which comprised wide range of Kanjivaram sarees- an Indian traditional attire known for its silk weave and detailed golden thread designs, brought back the essence of country made handloom and traditional art. Majority of the models were seen dressed in Indo-western fusion outfits, where their sarees were paired with short jackets made out of the same handloom. Bollywood diva Sushmita Sen, dressed in a silk jumpsuit-cum-Saree outfit, sizzled on the catwalk as she walked down the ramp. Meanwhile ace designer Rajesh Pratap Singh presented a clothing range that was made out of tensile fibre fabric. Singh's collection presented a perfect blend of pleats and jackets and was the showstopper for his collection was Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao. Lakme Fashion Week is held twice every year, where new and ace designers showcase their latest collection. The curtains for Winter/Festive collection will come down on August 29.
