16 treasure hunters arrested in Veyangoda

Colombo (News1st) - 16 suspects were arrested on allegations of excavating for treasure on a plot of land owned by a Temple in Waduraba, Weyangoda. According to the police said the suspects were arrested following investigations based on a tip-off received. Investigations revealed that the suspects had dug a hole 12 feet deep in search of treasure, using a backhoe which was earlier used for construction activities on the central expressway. The driver of the backhoe was arrested initially and the other suspects were arrested based on information revealed by him.
