Special train services for devotees to witness the Esala Perahara

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Additional General Manager of Railways, Wijaya Samarasinghe states that a special railway service will come into effect from today (August 21) to transport passengers to the Esala Perahera of the Temple of Tooth in Kandy. Accordingly, the special railway service will be in effect from today until the 25th this month to travel between Colombo, Fort and Kandy. Within this period, the train travelling from Colombo Fort to Kandy will begin at 09.50 am and would reach its destination at 01.15 pm. In addition, two more trains are scheduled to travel from Kandy to Colombo Fort and Nawalapitiya at 11.45 am. Samarasinghe added that two trains will be travelling at 07.05 am from Colombo Fort and at 07.00 pm from Kandy on the 26th this month.
