Special High Court to be opened today

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Special High Court established to look into fraud and corruption is due to be opened today (Aug 21st). The Special High Court will be declared open by Minister of Justice and Prison Reforms, Thalatha Athukorala and will be vested with the Judicial Services Commission. The three-judge bench of the High Court consists of Justices Sampath Abeykoon, Sampath Wijerathne, and Champa Janaki Rajarathne. On the 1st of August, the bench issued notices on former Presidential Chief of staff Gamini Senarath and 3 others to appear before the Special high court on the 24th of this month (Friday). This will be the first case taken up by the Special high court.
