Weapons for rent in the Southern Province

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A suspect who was selling firearms for underworld activities in the Southern province has been arrested in Batapola, Elpitiya. A spokesperson for the Police said a locally manufactured firearm, eight bullets, and a sword were discovered when the suspects' house was raided this morning (August 19). The suspect is an Army veteran. According to the Police Special Taskforce, it had been revealed during investigations that the suspect had rented out firearms for members of the underworld. The suspect has been handed over to the Batapola police station for further investigations.
