18 arrested during raids in Chilaw

COLOMBO (News 1st) - 18 suspects have been arrested by the Police during raids carried out in Chilaw. According to the Police, the raids had been carried out for a duration of 4 hours from 9 pm last night (August 18) to 1 am today (August 19). Among those arrested were individuals in possession of Cannabis and illicit liquor, individuals connected to thefts and drunk drivers. A number of individuals who had warrants against them were also arrested during the raids. Some of the arrested suspects were released on police bail while the others are to be produced before the Chilaw magistrates court.
