UPDATE

4:10 PM – The mound of earth which caused traffic congestion along the Hatton – Colombo main road has now been cleared. Vehicular movement is back to normal.

COLOMBO (News 1st) – Vehicular movement along the Hatton – Colombo main road has come to a standstill in the Steddenwatte area following the collapse of an earth embankment.

Police said measures are already underway to remove the mound of earth from the road with the assistance of the Disaster Management Centre.

The Police has requested motorists to use alternative routes to reach their destinations.
