Colombo (News1st) - Sri Lanka won the one-off T20 International against South Africa today, beating the visitors by 3 wickets. South Africa won the toss and elected to take the first lease of the R. Premadasa wicket. Spinner Dananjaya de Silva drew first blood for Sri Lanka when he dismissed opener Hashim Amla for a duck. This triggered a Proteas batting collapse and the visitors were bowled out for 98 runs in 16.4 overs. Quinton de Kock was the top scorer with 20 runs. Lakshan Sandakan was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets for 19 runs while Dananjaya de Silva and Akila Dananjaya bagged 2 wickets each. Chasing a relatively low target, Sri Lanka got off to an extremely shaky start losing both openers Kusal Janith and Kusal Mendis in the very first over. A 53 run stand between Dinesh Chandimal and Dananjaya de Silva steadied the Sri Lankan innings. Sri Lanka went on to reach their target in 16 overs with 3 wickets to spare. Dinesh Chandimal top-scored with an unbeaten 36 while Dananjaya de Silva chipped in with 31. Dananjaya also walked away with the man of the match award.
