Chasing away Wild Elephants from Balangoda

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Wildlife Department says that an operation has been launched to drive out wild elephants from Balangoda. Director of wildlife for the Southern and Uva Provinces Prassanna Wimaladasa said that 10 elephants were captured in operations that were conducted since the Thursady (August 09). The elephants are due to be released to the Bogahapattiya Reserve. 40 officers have been assigned for the operations.
