COLOMBO (News 1st) – Skirmishes between underworld gangs has resulted in 15 deaths so far this year according to the Police STF.

According to a high ranking officer of the STF the victims are all members connected to underworld gangs. A further 4 underworld leaders were killed during the course of the year following firefights between the STF and gang members.

The STF has arrested 52 underworld gang members during raids conducted in the  Western and Southern provinces within the year along with 11 firearms, several sharp weapons and drugs such as Heroin and Cannabis.
