COLOMBO (News 1st) - The strike action launched by private bus employees of buses plying along the Chilaw - Colombo route continued for a 4th day today. (July 30) Our correspondent in the area noted that other bus operators have also joined this strike action. Both regular and AC buses operating on the Puttlam - Colombo route, as well as buses operating on the Anamaduwa - Colombo and Negombo - Chilawroute have joined the strike action. The strike was launched on the 26th of this month after a driver on a Chilaw - Colombo bus was assaulted in Colombo. The driver was hospitalised due to the nature of his injuries. The bus operators are engaged in a strike calling on the police to take action. However, the police noted that an investigation has been launched into the incident by a number of police stations including the Chilaw, and Madampe police stations.
