COLOMBO (News 1st) - Railway authorities state that an inquiry will be held regarding the conduct of certain railway employees who resort to trade union actions without any prior notice being given. The general manager of the department S.M. Abeyawickrama said that trade unions will be questioned on the matter tomorrow (July 30). He added that it is regrettable that commuters are being inconvenienced over issues that could be resolved through dialogue. Railway station masters, supervisors, controllers and drivers staged a two-hour island wide strike on the 26th of this month. A property located in Maradana led to an issue which resulted in the strike action which was launched without prior notice. A tense situation erupted at the Fort railway station during the strike action.
