Bail granted for prison officer who assaulted the Divulapitiya PS Chairman

COLOMBO (News 1st): The prison officer, who was arrested in connection to assaulting the Chairman of the Divulapitiya Pradeshiya Sabha and the Chairman of a Gramodya Mandalaya was released on bail by the Minuwangoda Acting Magistrate today (July 22). The order was issued to release the officer on two sureties of Rs. 100,000 each. The incident in question occurred on the 22nd of this month and the suspect had caused damaged to property of the Pradeshiya sabah as well. A protest was held in Divulapitiya this morning demanding the arrest of the suspect. The case will be taken up again on the 07th of August.
