COLOMBO (News 1st) – Ashoka Chandani Kumara alias “Batti” who was believed to have been connected to the murder of a 57-year-old woman and her 17-year-old daughter in Kotakethana, Ratnapura was acquitted of all charges today (July 25).
Colombo High Court Judge, Vikum Kaluarachchi ordered for her release, after concluding that there was insufficient evidence against her following the investigations conducted.
However, the Colombo High Courts decided to continue hearing the case filed against the first defendant, Lokugam Hewage Dharshana alias “Raju” who is “Batti’s” husband.
The Attorney General had filed the case against the couple over the brutal murders of Nayana Nilmini and Kavindi Chathurangani Sellahewa in Kotakethana, Ratnapura on the 31st of January 2012.
