Prison officials support drug kingpin Susei - Police

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A spokesperson for the Police Narcotics Bureau says Dharmarasa Susendran alias "Susei", who is currently in prison on charges of being connected to large-scale drug rackets, receives the support of prison officials to continue his drug-related activities. A high ranking officer at the Bureau said that this was confirmed after inspecting the mobile phone of Mohammed Maaheer, "Susei's" main partner, who was arrested with 103 kilograms of Heroin in Kalubowila on the 7th of this month. It has been confirmed that contact details of around 8 Prison officials have been saved in the mobile phone which belonged to Mohommed Maaheer. The high ranking officer stated that these Prison officials had been contacted through Maheer's phone. Meanwhile, investigations have also been launched with regard to the mobile phone that was discovered in the possession of "Susei". The Prisons Department has been informed to carry out an internal investigation regarding the 8 Prison Officials. Dharmarasa Susendran alias "Susei" has been sentenced to life imprisonment after being arrested in Bambalapitiya in 2013, along with 2.25 grams of Heroin. He is currently an inmate at the Welikada Prison.
