Bakery items to be increased by Rs. 5

COLOMBO (News 1^st) - The All Ceylon Bakery Owners Association says that prices of all bakery items, except bread, will be increased by Rs. 5 with effect from midnight tomorrow (July 15). While requesting all bakery owners to increase the prices, President of the association N.K Jayawardene has asked the government to give them (bakery owners) relief. He has stated that failure to provide relief will result in a bread price increase by Rs. 10 within the next couple of months. The association had requested a meeting with the Finance Minister on multiple occasions. However, up to now, they have been deprived of a meeting.
