A new home for the Western Provincial Council

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The new building complex of the Western Provincial Council was declared open today under the auspices of President Maithripala Sirisena. A group including Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga were also present at the occasion. President Sirisena who declared the building open amidst the blessings of the Maha Sangha chaired the inaugural session on the 13th floor of the new building. The building complex consists of all the ministries and departments belonging to the Western Provincial Council is equipped with all the facilities and latest technology with the intention of providing a broad and efficient public service. Addressing the occasion Governor of the Western Province, Hemakumara Nanayakkara stated that although the Western Province has the most powerful Provincial Council in the country and generates the highest income of all provincial councils, they face shortcomings due to the income being stagnant in one area rather than being diverted to the right areas. He further added that discussions are underway to provide necessary solutions to this matter.
