Government safe house used to attack Keith Noyahr

Colombo (News 1st) - The Criminal Investigations Department informed the Mount Lavinia Magistrates Court on Tuesday (July 10) that Journalist Keith Noyahr was assaulted after being taken to a Safe House in Baduwatta, Dompe. This was informed to court based on facts revealed following investigations conducted by the CID. Mount Lavinia Additional Magistrate Lochana Abeywickreme Weerasinghe informed the CID to inquire if steps could be taken to obtain information on the safe house through the Defence Secretary. The  Judicial Medical Report with regard to the 8th suspect in the case Major General Amal Karunasekara, who was admitted to the Prisons Hospital,  was not handed in on Tuesday. The Acting Magistrate ordered for steps to be taken for the report to be presented before the court. Prison Officials informed court on Tuesday (July 10) that Amal Karunasekara is currently receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital. Karunasekara was further remanded until the 24th of this month.
