Singaporean company to plan development of Hambantota District

The inauguration ceremony of the 6th World Cities Summit 2018 was held in Singapore today (July 09). Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe delivered the keynote address at the event. Representatives of 135 countries attended the summit which commenced at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre. PM Wickremesinghe's keynote address was delivered under the topic "Sustainable Cities and Challenges Faced due to human activities." During the address, the Premier stated that "Sri Lanka's long-term objective envisage exploiting our strategic location in the Indian ocean and ensure our economic development in the region which will be pivotal for economic development in the world." Speaking further, Prime Minister Wickremesinghe said Surbana Jurong Private Limited will be planning the development of the Hambantota District. The Premier was accompanied by;
