COLOMBO (News 1st) – A special discussion to prohibit private tuition classes on Poya days and Sundays was held yesterday. (July 3)
President Maithripala Sirisena and Ministers and officials of the Budhdhasasana, Hindu affairs, Muslim religious affairs and Christian religious affairs were in attendance at the event.
Minister of the Budhdhasasana Gamini Jayawickrama Perera said several proposals on conducting classes on Poya days and Sundays and making Sunday schools compulsory were presented to President Maithripala Sirisena.
He further said that a committee to implement the proposal was also established.
