COLOMBO (News 1st) – Wildlife officers said that the elephant who was roaming in the Kos Kale forest reserve in Rambukkana is now close to the Deduru Oya. The officers urged the general public to refrain from gathering in the area to spectate. According to the residents of the area, the elephant was roaming in the Kos Kale forest reserve in Kadigamuwa Rambukkana since last morning.
An operation was launched by the wildlife officers, police, special task force and the area residents in search of the elephant.
Meanwhile, Wildlife officers captured a wild elephant disturbing the livelihoods of residents in Karuwala-gas-wewa. The officers had conducted operations for three days in search of the elephant.
News 1st correspondent said that the elephant was captured at 4 this morning behind the residence in Simenthi-gama Karuwala-gas- wewa.
