"Christian ministry does not suit a Buddhist" - Malwathu Mahanayake thero

COLOMBO (News 1^st) - Minister of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources Development, Wijith Wijayamuni Zoysa called on the Chief Prelate of the Malwathu Chapter the Most Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sumangala Thero. The Minister briefed the Mahanayake Thero on the development work carried out by him when serving as the Minister of Irrigation. According to our correspondent, the Minister presented a booklet to the Mahanyake on the development programs that were carried out. During the meeting most venerable Tibbatuwawa Sumangala Thero expressed his views on a Buddhist being appointed as the state minister of Christian affairs. The thero noted that this position does not suit a Buddhist Tibbatuwawa Sumangala Thero stated that the portfolio should have been given to a Christian Minister as it does not suit a Buddhist and this was agreed to by the Minister.
