COLOMBO (News 1st) - A suspect has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport for attempting to smuggle three gold biscuits, concealed in his body. Acting Customs Media Spokesperson, Vipula Minuwanpitiya said, the stock of gold was worth around Rs 2.2 million, adding that the suspect had arrived from Singapore. The suspect is a 37-year-old resident of Nittambuwa. Meanwhile a Ugandan national, who attempted to smuggle 858 gems to the country, was arrested last night, by customs officials at the airport.
