COLOMBO (News 1st) – Following a search operation by Wildlife officers Tusker Deegadhanthu, who was reported missing has been located in the Weralagala area in the Kahallapallakele forest reserve.
A search operation with the participation of 13 teams was launched yesterday (June 28) to locate the tusker, who was reported to be missing while being treated near the Kala wewa forest reserve.
A team of consisting of five veterinary surgeons have been dispatched to treat the Tusker as it was recently found with gunshot wounds on its left leg as a result of the Human- Elephant Conflict.
Deegadhanthu reportedly has the longest tusks in the Kala Wewa reserve.
