Government to suspend issuing firearm permits

COLOMBO (News 1^st) - The government has decided to suspend the issuance of permits for firearms. According to a senior Defense Ministry official, the measure was taken due to the increase in underworld activities. The defense ministry official said that it is compulsory to renew the license annually. According to the police, 335 illegal firearms have been seized over the last 5 months.
