Debt rose by Rs.180bn due to exchange rate - MP Dilum Amunugama

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Joint Opposition convened a media briefing today to comment on the economy. UPFA MP Dilum Amunugama accused the Government of following the instructions of the IMF and allowing the economy to collapse. He noted that the depreciation of the Sri Lankan rupee had resulted in Sri Lanka's debt burden increasing by over 180bn rupees. MP Amunugama also stated that the public has been taxed heavily in a bid to increase Government revenue. He also accused the Government of not undertaking any development work despite obtaining many loans.
