14-year-old hospitalized after being assaulted by a relative

COLOMBO (News 1^st) - A 14-year-old boy in Nelumkanda, Anuradhapura was brutally assaulted by his brother-in-law on the 14^th of this month. Our correspondent said that the child had been taken to a cemetery and assaulted after binding his hands and legs. The attacker had accused the child of stealing money from him to purchase doves. An individual who later saw the child in the cemetery had taken the child and had handed him over to his parents. According to the Police, that the injured child was admitted to the Anuradhapura teaching hospital last night and continues to receive treatment there. Meanwhile, the 32-year-old suspect who had carried out the attack has been arrested and he is to be produced before the Anuradhapura magistrate on Sunday (June 17).
