COLOMBO (News 1st) – Journalists questioned the Former General Secretary of the United National Party, Tissa Attanayake regarding the appointment of New Deputy Ministers.

He stated that the appointment of new ministers, new deputy ministers as well as monitoring MPS, is a burden to the country. While noting that the appointments do not provide anything to the people of the country, Attanayake added that what the people desperately need is a relief.

Tissa Attanayake stated that it is difficult for people to live as the cost of living has gone up and income streams have dried up. In addition, he stated that if the people are going to be burdened further, it will cause a huge problem.

The former general secretary of the UNP remarked that while floods were wreaking havoc in certain parts of the country some politicians were more interested in passing supplementary estimates to purchase vehicles and office equipment.
