COLOMBO (News 1^st) – The Disaster Management Centre said several houses in the districts of Kandy, Kurunegala and Puttalam have been damaged due to strong winds.

Activities are underway to renovate the houses damaged due to strong winds.

According to the Minister of Disaster Management, Duminda Dissanayake, officers from the Sri Lanka Navy and the Army have also been assigned to carry out renovation activities.

The Minister further said, under the first phase, a compensation of 10,000 rupees will be provided to the affected families.
