One spill gate of Kukuleganaga reservoir opened

Colombo (News1st) - One spill gate of the Kukuleganga Reservoir was opened late last night (May 6th). Asst. Director of the Kalutara District Disaster Management Center,  Lt. Col. Prasad Jayasinghe noted that opened spill gate released around 45 cubic meters of water per second. Jayasinghe noted that the gate was opened as the Kalawana area received heavy rainfalls over the past few days. The Met. Department predicts heavy showers (around 100m) in a number of areas in the country including the Central and Sabaragamuwa Provinces.
