Politicians continue deny accepting money from Aloysius

Who are the individuals who received gratification from either the Perpetual group of companies or Arjuna Aloysius who are accused of involvement in the bond scam? The dialogue concerning this issue is reaching a decisive juncture. Chairman of the United National Party, Kabir Hashim who also appeared before the bond commission to provide statements said today that he does not need to take money from companies to engage in politics adding that if needed he can give some money to Perpetual Treasuries. When questions were raised whether he received money from such individuals through a family member, the Minister denied and reiterated that he does not need money from businessmen to engage in politics.   Executive Director of CaFFE Keerthi Tennakoon reminded the public today that is was Min. Kabir Hashim who was the subject minister in charge of state banks when the second bond scam took place adding that he was the minister responsible for asking the  Bank of Ceylon to submit a low amount of bids. UNP Parliamentarian Hector Appuhamy who was a member of the COPE committee group that added footnotes to the COPE report rejected allegations that he accepted money from the alleged perpetrators of the bond scam. He did accept that a friend of his recieved the distribution agent rights of the W.M. Mendis company but added that he played no part in the deal nor did he recieve any dividends from the deal. A number of politicians came before the media today as well to state that they did not accept money from Arjun Aloysisus or Perpetual Treasuries. One of the more interesting statements was made by the leader of the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya, MP Udaya Gammanpila who stated that he had prepared an affidavit that he had not accepted money from such individuals. He noted that he would hand in this document to the Speaker of Parliament and went onto note that others should also do the same as they could be penalised in court if they are proven to have made false statements.
