COLOMBO (News 1st) - The General Secretary of Tamil United Liberation Front V. Anandasangaree in a letter addressed to the president says the country has lost its much-needed peace and tranquillity.
Anandasangaree states the government is duty bound to explore the possibilities of finding a solution acceptable to all ethnic groups adding that several opportunities that had knocked on our doors were ignored.
He notes that the failure to find a solution in 2004 cost the country several thousands of innocent lives of civilians, several thousands of combatants from both sides and the destruction of several billions worth of property, both private and government.
He adds that several requests were made to campaign for the Indian model as a solution to the ethnic problem.
