Water Supply Board employees to launch trade union action

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The employees at the National Water Supply and Drainage Board have decided to launch a trade union action today (May 30). The trade union action is being launched as the promised salary increment of 25% has been reduced. Convenor of Water Supply Joint Trade Union Alliance Upali Ratnayake said all employees will refrain from all duties during the period from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ratnayake further noted all executive level officers at the board will also launch a work to rule strike from today (May 30). News 1st's attempts to obtain a response from the Chairman and the General Manager of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board were ignored.
