REUTERS : Malaysian customs said on Monday (May 28) that it has made a record bust of nearly 1.2 tonnes of methamphetamine last week, the biggest haul in the country’s history.
The drugs that included 1,187 kilograms of methamphetamine and 760 grams of heroin were for local consumption, director-general of Malaysian Customs Subromaniam Tholasy told a news conference in Negeri Sembilan, south of capital Kuala Lumpur.
The drugs were packed in golden vacuum bags carrying a Versace logo, with description of tea leaves preservation methods on its package.
The items were declared as food, customs said. At least six people, including three Myanmar and three Malaysian nationals, were detained following the drug bust in the suburbs of Kuala Lumpur.
