Dharmayauddaya wins big at Derana Film awards 2018

COLOMBO (News 1^st) - The Derana Film Awards 2018 was held at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre yesterday (May 26). The popular movie "Dharmayuddaya" won the awards for best actor and best actress at the award ceremony. The award ceremony judged 23 movies that were in cinemas in 2017. The Film Awards comprised of 20 Jury awards and 7 people's awards. The award for the best movie was won by "28" Prasanna Jayakodi won the award for best director as well as the best screenplay for the movie 28. Dharmayuddaya was adjudged the most popular movie of the year. Jackson Anthony and Dilhanu Ekanayake who played lead roles in the movie won the awards for best actor and best actress respectively. Kumara Thirumadura who played a supporting role in Dharmayuddaya won the award for best-supporting actor. Umali Tillakaratne who acted in the movie A Level won the award for the best female supporting actor. She was also adjudged the most popular upcoming actress of the year. Hemal Ranasinghe received the award for the most popular actor of the year while Yureni Noshika won the award for most popular actress of the year. Malini Fonseka was presented with a lifetime achievement award.
