COLOMBO (News 1st) – The Ministry of Education has decided to provide school equipment to students who were affected following the recent inclement weather.
Information regarding the number of students affected by the inclement weather is now being collected through the relevant educational zones. Textbooks, shoes and uniforms are to be given to the affected students.
All Zonal Directors of Education and Provincial Directors of Education have been instructed to inform the Ministry of Education with regard to the number of students affected in each area.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education has decided to conduct a study in relation to the number of schools that were damaged following the incessant rains. The Ministry added that steps would be taken to hand over the necessary funds needed to renovate the schools that were damaged due to the floods.
