Gammadda: An end to a long battle for clean drinking water

COLOMBO (News 1st) – A clean drinking water project launched by Gammadda with the assistance of Sri Lanka Navy was vested with the public today, providing a solution to the residents of the Kappachchi village in Vavuniya.

More than 100 families in the Kappachchi village in Vavuniya have been facing severe issues due to the lack of clean drinking water, for a prolonged period.

The people in the village had to travel about 6 KM to access water sources, however, this water too was not suitable for consumption as a result of its salinity.

The clean drinking water project completed with around 2.5 million rupees, was declared open at around 10 this morning.
