Harvey Weinstein released on $1m bail

Former Hollywood film mogul Harvey Weinstein has been released on $1m (£751,000) bail after being charged in New York with rape and sexual abuse. Weinstein, 66, also agreed to wear a GPS tracker and to surrender his passport after turning himself into police. He was subsequently arrested, processed and charged with rape, criminal sex act, sex abuse and sexual misconduct for alleged incidents involving two separate women, police said. "Today’s charges reflect significant progress in this active, ongoing investigation," Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance said in a statement. "I thank the brave survivors who have come forward, and my office’s prosecutors who have worked tirelessly on this investigation." However, Weinstein denies non-consensual sex and his lawyer said he would plead not guilty.
