Aloysius revision application hearing postponed

The hearing of the revision application filed at the Court of Appeal by Arjun Aloysius, the beneficial owner of Perpetual Treasuries, has been postponed to the 1st of June. Aloysius' attorneys filed the revision application, seeking to overturn the rejection of his bail application by the High Court. Representing the Attorney General today, Additional Solicitor General Yasantha Kodagoda submitted to court that bail had been denied by the Fort Magistrate's Court, considering the evidence uncovered through the investigation conducted by the CID, and the recommendations put forward by the Presidential Commission of Inquiry on Bond Issuances. Kodagoda also argued before court that the investigation cannot be belittled as the CID initiated its investigation following a complaint lodged by the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, and not an anonymous tip-off from a three-wheeler driver. Furthermore, Kodagoda added that the Fort Magistrate had provided a comprehensive and detailed reasoning for denying bail and that her order was a legitimate order. Arjun Aloysius and Kasun Palisena, the CEO of Perpetual Treasuries, are currently in remand custody after being arrested in connection with the Central Bank bond scam.
