COLOMBO (News 1st) – Flood warnings have been issued to several areas as a result of the heavy downpour.
The Department of Irrigation said the water level of Kalu Ganga has increased from the Millakanda area.
Accordingly, people living in the low lying areas of Madurawala, Horana, Bulathsinhala, Ingiriya and Palinda Nuwara divisional secretariat areas, have been advised to remain vigilant.
The Department also said the water levels of the Attanagalu Oya has also reached spill level and people living in lowlands around Negombo, Ja-Ela, Minuwangoda and Gampaha divisional secretariat areas are advised to be cautious.
Speaking to News 1st a short while ago, Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre Pradeep Kodippili, said Gin Ganga is also reaching spill level.
