Colombo parking fines temporarily suspended

Colombo (News1st) - With mounting social pressure on what has been described by the public as unjust parking fines, the Mayor of Colombo, Rosy Senanayake on Friday (May 18th) issued an order to suspend the fines charged via parking meters set up in the Colombo Municipality. In a tweet, the Mayor said she had given instructions to the Urban Commissioner on this matter, pending council approval. Parking meters were set up in the Colombo Municipality recently and a fine was imposed on those who fail to pay the relevant charges.
