REUTERS - Legendary Indian singer, Lata Mangeshkar, was honoured with "Swara Mauli" (Mother of Chords) title at her residence in India's entertainment capital, Mumbai, yesterday (May 12) by Hindu spiritual leader, Jagatguru Shankaracharya. Mangeshkar was joined by her sister, Asha Bhosle and brother, Hridaynath Mangeshkar at the event along with others. Bhosle expressing her thoughts said any number of awards presented to her elder sister is insufficient. Shankaracharya had previously ordained the singer with the title of 'Swara Bharati' as well. The singer said all the awards conferred to her hold great value, irrespective of being big or small. Lata Mangeshkar comes from a family of singers and has had a career spanning seven decades. Often called the "Queen of Melody", she had been conferred with multiple awards including India's highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna, three National Film Awards, four Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards, two Filmfare Special Awards, Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award (India's highest cinema honour) and the Officer of the Legion of Honour Award (France's highest civilian award), among countless others.
