COLOMBO (News 1st) – The six suspects who were arrested over the theft of the medal presented to the Late Dr. Lester James Peiris at the International Film Festival of India in 2000, were remanded until the 21st of this month.

The suspects were remanded when they produced before Colombo Additional Magistrate, Daminda Weligodapitiya.

The Additional Magistrate ordered the Prisons Superintendent to present two of the suspects to court for an identification parade, as it has been revealed they were directly involved in the theft.

The stolen medal was found on the luggage rack of a private bus operating from Kaduwela to Colpetty on Thursday (May 3).
